1. Electrical and Solar PV Systems basics;
2. Designing of Solar PVSystem/Software;
3. Portable Solar PV Product Development;
4. Marketing Strategy.

At the beginning of February 2020 a long-term donor had offered to make a larger donation for the NARGIS KHATON HEARING IMPAIRED SCHOOL (NKHIS) SKARDU if we had a project idea and a conclusive concept.
In the sense of ‚helping people to help themselves‘, we always strive to develop programs that stimulate the needy to develop initiatives and offer them a perspective of being able to participate in social life and to be able to make a living.
In the SKARDU region, the valley in the KARKORUM, even in the city, continuous power supply is a constant unsolved problem. There is usually no power supply in the remote villages. Sunshine is abundant throughout the year. Small solar systems could be of great help.
We immediately contacted the young engineer Saad Asif from ISLAMABAD, whom we knew to be competent and absolutely reliable. Saad Asif analyzed the general conditions and options for action, contacted the NKHIS, looked at the young deaf people and evaluated the chance of being able to train them.
A few days later he informed us that no company in the SKARDU area offers solar systems. From time to time, Chinese flying traders come by who sell small solar systems but do not provide information on how to install and use them. In addition, he let us know that he had seen some girls and boys whom he recognized as having the necessary potential and interest in training.
PAKISTAN-Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe e.V., NARGIS KHATON HEARING IMPAIRED SCHOOL and Saad Asif defined goals and responsibilities for the project in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Saad Asif developed a plan for the training and for setting up a small solar workshop at NKHIS.
With a larger group of NKHIS students Saad Asif started the training in RAWALPINDI on February 11. It included:
1. Electrical and Solar PV Systems basics;
2. Designing of Solar PV System / Software;
3. Portable Solar PV Product Development;
4. Marketing strategy.
At the end of the training, Saad Asif decided which 5 students (4 boys, 1 girls) would be the most suitable for the project.
Probably in June 2020 Saad Asif will be at NKHIS in SKARDU, set up a small solar workshop with the donations made available by PHzSHe.V. and start business with 20 small solar systems.
We are confident that the young people will take their chance to become the solar experts in the remote mountain region and with their knowledge and skills earn their living.
