Following our motto of “helping people to help themselves,” we invited Muhammad Naseem, whom we had trained as an audiologist at our partner Narjis Khatoon School for Deaf Skardu, to a four-week Audiology Training Program in Germany.

From January 19 to February 16, he participated in a program in Schleswig-Holstein where he received the necessary knowledge and practical skills for his work in audiology at the ENT Center Flensburg, Hörstudio Hedler Flensburg, Michael Eggers Hearing Acoustics Bordesholm, the Schleswig State Center for Hearing & Communication, the Cochlear Implant Center Schleswig, and the Mohr Hearing Aids Neumünster earmold laboratory.

With what he has learned, Muhammad Naseem will be able to independently examine children and adolescents and, if necessary, fit them with hearing aids.
He is the only one in Balistan who can do this!

Pakistan – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe e.V. is expected to continue providing on-site support with the Free Ear Camp team for another two to three years, as well as assistance from Germany in problem cases.

With this major project, we want to contribute to securing the future of the work of the Narjis Khatoon School for Deaf Skardu, given the great need and the existing framework conditions.

Hearing impairment will not have to remain a fate for the children in Balistan.

The main focus of PHzSHeV’s work for hearing-impaired children in Balistan over the next few years will be the planning and construction of a new school, a hostel, and an audiology center.

The land shown in the photo for the project has already been provided by the Gilgit-Balistan government on a 50-year lease.
